Intensive Couples Marathon Therapy

When weekly therapy isn't enough...

Sometimes, weekly couples therapy just doesn’t cut it. Despite some good work in the sessions and great intentions, the old cycle returns within minutes of stepping outside the therapist’s office.

That’s where marathon or intensive therapy might be the best option.

Instead of gaps between treatment, we meet for two consecutive days, for up to six hours per day. This allows us to deeply focus on entrenched patterns, pain points and possibilities for change. We stay immersed in the therapeutic process, build momentum and practise new skills in real time. This often leads to greater insight, faster progress and a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship dynamics.

Intensives are often best for people who need help NOW – couples who are in crisis and don’t want to wait weeks to get traction.

Who it’s for

You will both complete a detailed, online relationship assessment beforehand.

The first day of the intensive involves a joint session, an individual session each and a feedback/goals-orientated session. In the afternoon your therapist will move you into a research-based intervention conversation.

The second day kicks off with reflection, then straight into skills building, tools, interventions and strategies.

Each day is 6 hours long, with times for breaks. Generally, you’re looking at around 12 sessions of therapy in two days.
